Bernie Ecclestone has been heavily involved with F1 in the past and after selling his team in the ’80s, he went into the administration side of it. This subsequently helped him rise through the ranks as he became one of the largest stakeholders in the series. However, while being involved in F1, he married a Croatian fashion model, Slavica Malic in 1985, but the marriage soon fell apart, and she earned a massive $881 million in the settlement.

While Bernie Ecclestone was rising up the ranks in F1 during his active years, the Brit fell in love with Slavica Malic and seemed to have a happy married life. Moreover, the couple even had two daughters and were happy with each other.

However, the relationship went on a downward spiral as Malic filed for divorce in 2008 and subsequently won the settlement in 2009. According to Bloomberg, the 65-year-old set up a family office in 2023 to manage the astonishingly high amount of money. This was done in order to not fall into the crevices of taxes.

On the contrary, Ecclestone has been on the receiving end of many controversies in recent years. Moreover, he is seen by many as one of the biggest tax fraudsters in the history of Britain.

Where will Max Verstappen end up according to Bernie Ecclestone?

With certain shenanigans going on at Red Bull, rumors regarding Max Verstappen‘s future with the team have been the talk of the town. On the other hand, the 93-year-old has witnessed multiple driver transfers over the years and thus, has a great ability to read the driver market owing to his experience.

Ecclestone recently claimed that it would be senseless for Verstappen to leave Red Bull at the heights of its current dominance.

What would he gain? To go where? It'd be silly to move. There's nowhere he could go where I think he would get exactly the same service as you get at Red Bull.
Bernie Ecclestone said in an interview with RacingNews365

The former boss questioned what the Dutchman would gain from leaving Red Bull. He further stated that every driver wants to be with the fastest team and thus feels there is no possibility of Verstappen leaving the Austrian outfit anytime soon.

Despite his strong opinion, the driver market has been quite volatile and any move cannot be ruled out. Moreover, fans have already received a glimpse of such a move before the start of the ongoing season, so another such move cannot be ruled out.
