Jared Gordon had to give $22,000 for tickets for his friends and family ahead of his fight at UFC 295. UFC 295 is one of the most anticipated PPV events of 2023, featuring the heavyweight bout between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. The hype around the event is unreal and it’s going to take place inside the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.

Gordon is set to fight against Mark Madsen in a lightweight showdown after his last fight got canceled in June. However, the fighter has made headlines after he shared pictures of his ticket bookings that went viral online. Gordon has booked 17 tickets for UFC 295 and overall, it has cost him about $22,000.

Wtf is this? I said I was grateful to the ufc for making this happen and the fans for supporting us. UFC gives us 4 free tickets but I had more friends and fam that wanted to come. Is MSG supposed to give tickets away to everyone that wants to come? Journalists suck sometimes… https://t.co/s4WXKb6NQs

Gordon couldn’t understand why it went viral and made headlines, which were followed by trolling.  The fighter then explained it in another tweet. He wrote, “Wtf is this? I said I was grateful to the UFC for making this happen and the fans for supporting us. UFC gives us 4 free tickets but I had more friends and fam that wanted to come. Is MSG supposed to give tickets away to everyone that wants to come? Journalists suck sometimes…”

The fighter asserted that he aimed to express gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support. He further disclosed that the company would be providing him with an additional four complimentary tickets following his weigh-ins. Jared Gordon clarified that obtaining tickets from Madison Square Garden wasn’t a straightforward process, and he had secured these tickets at a discounted rate.

Despite Jared Gordon’s long explanation of the story behind the tickets, he couldn’t escape the trolls. Many fight fans made fun of the fighter for spending too much money on tickets and compared it to his fight purse at the UFC. Here are some of the most notable tweets.

And UFC still pays most of their fighters $10k/$10k to $20k/$20k per event.🤨😂

Numerous fans taunted the fighter, speculating that he might have had to sacrifice a substantial portion of his fight earnings to cover the expenses. Nonetheless, Gordon consistently countered such assumptions, emphasizing that this was not the situation.

It appeared that Jared was keen on avoiding a repeat of his past incident with Dana White during his bout against Jim Miller. In that instance, Gordon had failed to disclose his concussion before the fight, which had infuriated White. According to some fans, the prices were absurd and a fighter on the card shouldn’t have been charged that much.
